Love and understanding help show us that we’re all different, yet very much the same.
When you believe something to be true without being able to explain why, you can only say
“I know it in my heart".
I know in my Heart is a lyrical and educational children’s picture book illustrating the concepts of good and bad, of love and understanding and how we’re all different yet very much the same.
It’s catchy, it’s memorable and, most important, it’s timely.
I know in my Heart was born during a conversation my wife and I were having about the state of the world. I had been thinking on the subject for a couple of weeks and came to the understanding that Humanity, as a whole, needs to have a paradigm shift from fear and hate (because, let's face it, everything stems from fear) to love and understanding.
Children who only know fear, often grow up full of hate, passing that hatred on to everyone they touch. Children who know love and understanding grow up to be adults who spread love and understanding their whole lives. We need to instill traits in children that encourage them to grow up to be loving and understanding adults. Maybe I know in my Heart can be a starting point for some children (and maybe even adults) who just need a little love and understanding themselves.

Holt Webb
Author/creator
I'm a photographer and artist at heart, but my parents always told me my writing was better than my photography... and they love my photography. Born and raised in Georgia, I’m a traveler, a photographer, a writer and truth seeker. I live on forty-five acres in the North Georgia mountains with my incredible wife, her kids, five dogs, four cats and whatever else lives out in these woods.

Elvie
Our main character
Maybe the machinery helps Elvie get around and see or hear better. Maybe Elvie was just made that way and everyone is like that where they come from. Maybe it’s just because it’s fun. Or, maybe, just maybe… it’s all of those reasons and more! I’ll bet, once we get to know Elvie, we’ll understand a whole lot more!

Mark Nino Balita
Illustrator
I am a freelance children’s book illustrator from the Philippines. My art style is sketchy and very loose. It actually makes me smile when people say, “Oh, this one looks like it was drawn by a kid!”. I think that’s the best way to approach artwork for children. I want children to be inspired and confident. I hope that when they see my work, they say, “I can do that, too!”
